Whitewater 301

Read. React. Run
WW301 is our advanced whitewater kayaking course focused on running more demanding whitewater with greater skill, awareness, and intention. Students develop advanced river reading, rescue awareness, technical paddling ability, and the decision-making skills needed to approach Class III–IV water with confidence and composure.
The course emphasizes precision, consistency, and intentional river running in more dynamic and technical environments. Students continue refining boat control, recovery skills, rapid scouting, and line selection while learning to better evaluate hazards, adapt to changing conditions, and maintain composure under pressure.
Designed for experienced paddlers ready to move beyond intermediate river running, WW301 focuses not simply on running harder rapids, but on understanding how to paddle difficult whitewater responsibly, intentionally, and with strong river judgment.

Who Is The Class For?
WW301 is designed for experienced paddlers who are comfortable on intermediate whitewater and are ready to approach more demanding rivers with greater precision, awareness, and intention. Most students enter the course after completing WW201 or through equivalent river experience and demonstrated paddling ability.
The course is a good fit for paddlers looking to refine technical skills, improve decision-making in consequential water, and develop greater consistency in challenging river environments. Students should already be comfortable with self-recovery, rolling in moving water, and paddling in dynamic current.
WW301 is built for paddlers who want to move beyond simply running rapids and begin understanding how to paddle difficult whitewater with composure, control, and deliberate river judgment.

What to Expect

WW301 focuses on applying advanced paddling skills in more demanding river environments where precision, composure, and decision-making become increasingly important. The course places a strong emphasis on technical river running, intentional boat placement, and maintaining control in faster, more complex whitewater.
Students spend significant time refining lines, scouting rapids, linking maneuvers together, and evaluating river features in real time while continuing to strengthen recovery skills and adaptability under pressure. Instruction emphasizes repetition, judgment, and consistency — not simply running harder rapids, but understanding how to approach difficult water responsibly and intentionally.
Depending on river conditions and class progression, WW301 may take place on a variety of Class III–IV rivers throughout the Southeast, giving students the opportunity to apply advanced skills in increasingly technical and consequential environments.
